Rotorua Ekiden

The Rotorua Ekiden is a fun event, a challenging run or walk and a great day out with your mates. The event follows the famous Rotorua Marathon course for 42km, split into six achievable segments that vary in distance from 5km to 8km.

The ekiden was invented in Japan and involves teams of runners passing a tasuki – a traditional Japanese sash – from person to person in lieu of a baton. We’ve adopted the Japanese Kanji symbol for friendship as the race logo and what better way to spend a Saturday than a great run or walk with a bunch of your best mates?

Great event guys – well organised and ‘run’. NZJS Idaten and NZJS Kame plus Usagi JETS plus supporters had a fantastic time again this year. We’ll be back!
We look forward to seeing everyone there for a truly great event. The Ekiden has suffered over the last few years. Big thanks to Running Events for picking up this event. Good luck to all and see you there.
I’ve been to many running events over the years and few can come anywhere close to the way in which you do things. …Keep it up, it is just a wonderful event and what you do is the icing on the cake!
