Frequently Asked Questions

If the big six didn't cut it, your answer is almost certainly in here ...

Click on the “Enter” link on the top menu of the event web site for your chosen event (can't find the event web site? look here). You'll be scrolled down the page to the list of entry categories. Find the category you want to register for and click the  "Get Tickets" button. You'll be taken to our online entry portal where you can follow the instructions to complete your details. All race entries are now completed online and can be finalised immediately using a credit card.

We strongly encourage the use of a credit card to enter as it is quick, secure and you will receive instant notification. However, If you don’t have access to a card, you can follow the procedure below and then contact us to finalise payment. To do this, go through the online registration process up to the cart screen and it will setup a partial registration for you and show you the cost for your entry selections. Email us via contact form below to receive our bank account details and once your payment has been received, we will apply the payment to your cart and finalise the registration.

Important! An administration fee of 5% (minimum charge $5) of the cart total applies to all non-credit card transactions.

In most cases, it will be possible to enter the event on race day, provided the event has not reached capacity (you can check this on the event web site or facebook page - if the event is sold out it will be announced here at least 24 hours prior to race start). In-person race day entries can be made at the green Registration/Late Entry tents at the race site - just be sure to allow at least half an hour before your event starts to complete the formalities. In most cases, an iPad will be available for you to complete the entry form - but you can also do this on your own phone or device just by accessing the event web site. In person late entry is available as soon as the event site opens (see the Race Day Schedule on the web site) but you might find it quicker and easier to use your own device before you travel to the event. Payment can be made by credit card or by cash. If you select the cash option, your registration will be held in a queue. Go to the registration desk, quote your name and make your entry fee payment in cash. Our friendly crew will confirm your entry and present your race number.

Important! On the day entries incur an additional fee and must be paid for by Credit Card or Cash – there are no EFTPOS facilities at the race site.

Yes, parents and caregivers are welcome to accompany their kids in any of the Running Events 2km Kids’ Dashes and you do not need to register to do this. However, please look out for the other kids in the race and start towards the back of the field. Parents are not allowed at the front of the race at any time.

The majority of our events offer a ‘hybrid run/walk’ option. This is for those who do not wish to be in the run category but will be running at points and therefore do not qualify for the competitive walk category. This is not a competitive category and entrants will not be eligible for the merit awards.

>"Information For Walkers"

Running Events’ FlexiREV payment plan allows you to spread your payment over 4 fortnightly payments and it is available for larger transactions in selected stores. There’s a nominal 5% administration fee which is billed alongside your first payment and the remainder is covered off in three equal payments of 25% of your total. The first one is in two weeks from the initial purchase date, the next in four weeks, the last in six weeks.

Important!  To provide this service, you authorise us to hold a “payment token” so that we can rebill your credit card on the due date (we do not now – or ever – have access to your card number). By selecting this option, you confirm the complete purchase of your registrations and these are not refundable for cash at any time. Please familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions outlined below before proceeding.

If you fail to make any of the remaining payments, we may elect to refer your account to a payment recovery service.

Important!  The FlexiREV facility is in a trial period from June 2020. It may not be available for all events and may be withdrawn at any time.

There are detailed and highly accurate course maps for every distance on the individual event pages. Please go to the event website, then click on Race Options from the top menu. Scroll down to find the map for your race distance. These are available in printable pdf versions or online through Google Maps and Plotaroute. The course elevation can be found on the pdf download, and in the Plotaroute map, just scroll down a little to view the chart and remember you can change the distance to show it in km's beside the "play" button.

At most events, you will also find large printed course maps at the race site.

Cut-off times are set to mark the pace at which the aid stations and marshals on the course will be stood down. If you finish outside of the cut-off mark you will still get a time so long as you finish before the race is officially closed.

At your option, you may elect to continue and complete the course at your own volition. This means you must carry sufficient water and nutrition for your needs, be able to direct yourself around the course and observe and care for your own safety. Where the event has been taking place on closed roads, you must move onto the footpath – where one exists – or to the side of the road and continue as a pedestrian.

Running Events want to encourage all of our participants to make it to the finish line – no matter how long it takes. The above conditions notwithstanding, we are normally at the race site conducting the awards ceremony or packing up the site for at least an hour after the official close off. Provided you make yourself known to us when you finish – and confirm that you followed the correct course – we will be delighted to record your finish time in the official results and present you with your finisher medal.

Nordic poles are permitted at all events. Participants should register in the hybrid run/walk category where one exists. Nordic poles are not permitted in any of our Competitive Walk categories.

Exact arrival times can vary from event to event.

In general, if you have already registered (so you have your race number and timing tag) then you should arrive at the race venue no later than 20 minutes prior to your race start time. If you still need to register, you should arrive no later than 40 minutes prior to your race start time.

Please check the ‘Race Schedule’ section in the ‘Info’ section for exact times so you don’t miss the compulsory race briefing

Pop the event site location into Google Maps and follow the directions to get to the event site.

On the event website, check the “Info” section for the “Parking”, "Bus Transfers" and “Road Closure” pages for any further instructions.

On the event website, check under the “Info” section for the “Parking” information box which has full instructions.

At most events we will have a designated Gear Tent where you can leave your things (look for the Red tents). The tent will be manned but items are accepted on an “all care, no responsibility” basis. There will also be a key drop for all valuables in the same tent. You can pre-label your bag before coming to site with your race number written large and clearly and that will save you time on the morning. We will have labels available on site for you if needed.

The safety briefing is a short announcement made by a Race Official approximately 15 minutes prior to the start of each race. It includes extremely important safety information about the event and will include any late changes to the course or other important arrangements. It is compulsory that all competitors attend the safety briefing and listen carefully to the instructions given.

The timing tag is an electronic transponder which will be attached to the back of your bib when you receive your race number. Please leave your tag on the back of your bib for the duration of the event to ensure you receive an accurate time. If attending prizegiving after the race, you will need to walk across our prizegiving mats with your race bib to be in the draw so hold on to it for this. After the race, you can dispose of the timing tag as you will not need it again.

IMPORTANT: if you are a Series Pass entrant for the North Shore Run Series, you will need to hang onto your timing tag and bib and wear this for all four races.

If you have forgotten your bib and the attached timing tag, please come to the registration tent at race site as soon as possible and a new bib and tag will be issued for you. Note that there is a $10 fee for this service so please, please remember to bring yours with you! We do not have EFTPOS facilities on site and can accept cash only.

Please check the Course Navigation section here >"Participation & Competition Rules".

A presentation ceremony will take place after all our events where we acknowledge the best performances of the day as well as giving away some fantastic spot prizes in a random draw. Hold on to your race bib after finishing and make sure to walk it over the spot prize mats just prior to the prizegiving to be entered into the spot prize draw. Listen to the PA announcements for instructions. You must be present to claim a spot prize.

Details of "Merit Awards" are available in the “Race” menu on the event website.

On race day, you will find a link on the main page of the event website with a link to live results.  This will be live throughout the event.

All previous event results can be found by clicking the Past Events tab on the event website and selecting the appropriate year from the dropdown list.

If you cannot find your name in the results at all, check the spelling of your surname and try using less letters in the search box – “smi” will find “Smith”, “Smithson”, etc. If that doesn’t work, try searching using the race number you wore on race day if you still have it.

If you can find your name in the results but there is no time shown, or you think the time is wrong, please get in touch with us using the Contact Us page on the event website. Let us know as much information as you can and we’ll do our upmost to get your result sorted.

In most cases, we will post photos from the event to our Facebook page within a day or two of the event, where you can tag yourself, download them for free or share them with your friends.

Photos4Sale – a third-party service provider – may take photos at the event which you can search, view and purchase on their web site. See www.photos4sale.co.nz for more information. This service is not provided by Running Events and all enquiries regarding these images should be directed to Photos4Sale.

We upload all usable photos we take to our facebook page within a day or two of the event. So if yours is missing then unfortunately we didn’t get you this time around. Our race crew take photos of as many finishers as we can but, from time-to-time, we have to react to other urgent needs. You can also often find photos from our events provided on a commercial basis at photos4sale.co.nz.

Spot prizes must be collected in person and are re-drawn at the event if you were not there.

For merit awards, please get in touch with us through the contact form to check if we still have your trophy. In most cases, we hold unclaimed trophies until the end of our season in April. This is not guaranteed, however, as the place to claim your trophy is at the awards ceremony. If we still have it, you’ll have a week to get in touch with us to arrange a collection.

We will hold your merchandise for up to 4 weeks after the event (we regret that due to space constraints, we cannot hold it for any longer). To receive it, please contact us via the Contact page and we can help to arrange either collection from our Hobsonville office (by prior arrangement only) or courier delivery of your item.

Regrettably, we cannot offer any refunds on merchandise.
